To the Doctor.

Madison's 2 month checkup was initially scheduled for two weeks ago.  I was almost relieved when she got sick the day before and we got a two week reprieve on her first shots.  Unfortunately, two weeks from two weeks ago = today.  I sat down at the computer fully intending to write a post about a project I've been working on, but I got distracted when I decided to research babies' first shots instead.  And that was a BAD idea.  Now I'm wondering if I can call in sick again.  :(

I'll try again later today, assuming she doesn't cry all day.  Since she's nursing, do you think they could give me the shot instead?  Some of it's bound to make its way to her, right?

  1. G's first shots were not bad at all. They made her VERY drowsy for 2 days and gave her diaper rash but that was about it. If you pump I would reccomend pumping a bottle before you go in so you can shove it in her mouth to distract her after the fact. G cried for about 5 seconds and was over it. Her legs never got sore or anything.

  2. Both Hannah and Zach survived them. The nurse was usually so fast that neither one of my kids realized it was happening until it was already over. The most problems they have had were swollen red warm areas at the sight of the injections and a few times they have had a slight fever. I can't remember the age I started giving them Infant Mortin before the doctor visit, but it was a must and worked rather well. The 4 year old checkup is the worse one I think and you have a long time until then. :)

  3. Phew! We survived. She cried(screamed bloody murder) for about half a minute, but holding/bouncing seemed to make her forget all about it. And the pedi gave me the okay to give her a little tylenol just in case it hurts/she gets a fever. She's acting pretty normal so far...
